Ping S55 Irons offer more workability and forgiveness in a cavity-blade iron set that’s designed for advanced and Tour-level golfers. Improving upon its already successful predecessor, the Ping S56, the S55 iron set optimizes performance for better forgiveness and control. The S55 features a Single Stabilizing Bar for a simpler look and more effective performance demanded by better players. The Thinner Face with Perimeter Weighting makes the club more forgiving with a lower center of gravity (CG). The cavity has a Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE) Badge insert that provides a better sound and a softer, more forged-like feel. The Ping S55 iron is compact at address, but the precision weight placements also make this iron more forgiving at the same time. The longer irons provide a higher launch angle for consistent performance, while the shorter irons provide more penetration and workability.
Expert Notes
These irons are more forgiving than the S56, with a slightly softer feel. They also fly farther than the previous model. They look very similar to the S56 model and are a favorite on the pro tour circuit. The biggest change you will find is the CTP is made of a different material and is slightly larger. As a result, the irons have a slightly higher MOI. The irons themselves are fractionally smaller than the S56’s and are very workable for players of all abilities. Even the short irons have been fortified and modernized.
