Ping G425 Iron Set
The Ping G425 Iron Set is designed for golfers seeking a perfect balance of distance, forgiveness, and feel. Featuring high-density tungsten toe and heel weighting, these irons provide an expanded perimeter-weighting design, resulting in extreme forgiveness and stability even on off-center strikes. The multi-material construction combines a Hyper 17-4 stainless steel head with a cascading sole design, allowing for increased flex at impact and generating faster ball speeds. The innovative COR-Eye Technology provides an excellent rebound effect, promoting higher launch and consistent distance. The hydropearl chrome finish reduces friction and improves performance in wet conditions.
Key features include:
Metal-Wood Style Face | Increases flexing for improved ball speed, launching shots higher and farther with stopping power to hold greens. |
Expanded Perimeter Weighting | Creates a new standard in forgiveness for irons this size. |
Cascading Sole & Top Rail Undercut | This design increases flexing for longer and higher shots. |
Hydropearl Chrome Finish | Repels water for improved performance in wet conditions. |
Tungsten Toe Screw & Hosel Weight | Strategically placed weights increase the moment of inertia which results in more forgiveness on off-center hits. |

Progression of the G425 irons
The original Ping G2 was launched in 2004. Ping increases performance year after year with small upgrades from as many design parameters as possible. The Ping G425 replaces the Ping G410 irons.
Here are the most significant upgrades:
- The G425 offers variable face thickness, just like a driver, allowing more face flex and ball speed wherever shots hit the face.
- The new head design is smaller.
- By removing weight from behind the impact zone (where Ping used to position a custom tuning port) the face can flex more freely, increasing ball speed.
- The mass is relocated to the extremities of the toe and inside the shaft tip, creating more forgiveness.
- The G425 wedges come with CNC-milled face grooves

The feel when you strike the ball is so pure, the perfectly weighted head makes the swing through feel nice. |
These clubs have changed my iron game. I recommend these clubs to any beginner or mid/high handicap player. |
Bought this set to help with trajectory and forgiveness. They have been great for me since I usually have a low-flight trajectory. |

The club face on my 5-iron cracked while hitting. This is an ongoing issue for me. |
Iron play has always been one of my strengths, but that’s no longer the case. I'm definitely frustrated because I’ve always loved my Pings. |
I’m disappointed in the quality. They seem to get scratched up more than my other iron set. |
The G425s are known for providing a lot of ball speed and spin, but that also comes with forgiveness in flight. These are very well-rounded and versatile irons among mid to high-handicappers and even some lower-handicap players who prioritize consistency. And even though the distance performance is solid, the G425s offer consistent gapping between clubs, which players may find more valuable than maximum distance.
