Progression of the Big Bertha irons
One of the first irons of its time (1997) to be made of composite materials. The Great Big Bertha irons were designed by reusing the shape of the Tour Series wedges with the S2H2 concept. The name was X11 originally but never hit the market because “Callaway decided not to make clubs for advanced players”. The Big Bertha iron set features an ultra-low CG and the sole replaces 40% of the head weight with a heavy material called tungsten. It also featured for the first time a bore-through neck and a lighter titanium body.

They are distance-heavy, and the forgiveness and low spin will help players hit the ball straight. They are built for average to below-average golfers. If you're a beginner not wanting to make an investment in your first iron set and just want to figure out if you like the game or not, these are for you.
