Progression of the Apex Pro irons

The Apex Pro irons follow the success of the regular Apex irons. They’re forged from 1020 Carbon steel and have Tungsten sole inserts (2 iron—5 iron) for higher launch and forgiveness. They feature Callaway’s new wide grooves for higher launch and lower spin out of the rough. The biggest upgrade the Pro received is a single-piece 1020 forging, compared to the regular Apex, which features multi-material construction.

👍 Pros
The feedback I get from the club is excellent. I can tell where I’m striking it and control the shape of the ball's flight. It's very workable.
On the range, I was amazed at how well I could control the flight.
Easy to hit, control, and work. I love that they did not jack up the lofts to make you feel like you're hitting it farther. I’m hitting it like it's been in my bag for ever.
👎 Cons
The Apex lofts are not as strong, so as expected, they do not get the ball out quite as far.
These irons are very punishing for off-center hits. The heads are smaller, and the sweet spot seems even smaller, so it's easy to miss a shot and lose a lot of yardage.
I had to change the grips because I can not stand Winn Grips. More of a cord guy.
The Apex Pros strike a good balance between the workability of blades and the forgiveness of game-improvement irons. The forged construction and Tour-influenced design allow skilled players to shape shots. And the forgiveness is surprisingly good for a player's iron. While not as forgiving as game-improvement models, they offer more consistency on slight mis-hits than traditional blades. The Apex Pros are a premium offering in Callaway's lineup and will have a higher price tag. However, if you're looking for performance benefits and a quality set, these are for you.
